Blackhawks: veterans have a role to play in rebuilding, says Jeremy Colliton

The Chicago Blackhawks may be starting a rebuild, but head coach Jeremy Colliton says the process will be speeded up if the team’s veterans get their act together.

Colliton said he understands the frustration that Captain Jonathan Toews has recently expressed over the recent decisions of general manager Stan Bowman. The center player was particularly shocked at the direction the club was taking, indicating that he had never been told about a reconstruction.

But the pilot wants the core, which has led the organization to three Stanley Cup wins, to keep up the pace and be fully involved in the development of young prospects.

“They must help [la reconstruction], Colliton told the Chicago Tribune recently. They have their role to play in helping young people and setting an example with their actions on and off the ice. It will speed up the process and ultimately it will be good for them too. ”

“Right now sometimes the veterans don’t like every situation, every decision you make, but they’re focused on their own game and how they can help the team individually. My job is to focus on the common good and the whole squad, both so that we can have a good season, but also a great team, an elite team, in the years to come. ”

This prospect, which Bowman was careful to present to the four veterans before issuing an open letter to fans, should also be enough to motivate them to collaborate.

“What should excite them is to become an elite team again. This is what we are working towards. This is what I expect from them. To put everything they have to allow us to get there as quickly as possible. “

“This is what I have to sell. This is what we do. They have a lot to offer and we want them to be part of it. ”
