PGA Champions Tour: Mike Weir defeated by Phil Mickelson

Canadian Mike Weir had to settle for second in Sunday’s Dominion Energy Charity Classic on the PGA Champions Tour.

It was the American Phil Mickelson who stole the title from him. The latter had a brilliant performance of 65 (-7) in the third and final round of the event. This is also the second victory in as many participations in a Champions Tour tournament for “Lefty”.

The newcomer to this circuit reserved for 50 years and over has amassed eight birdies and committed only one fault. His cumulative total of 199 (-17) allowed him to beat the representative of the Maple Leaf by three strikes.

Weir, who was first after two rounds, handed in a 71 (-1) card on Sunday. It was his worst performance of the week.
