[PHOTOS] Fire last night in a two-story building in Limoilou

A two-story building was engulfed in flames overnight from Wednesday to Thursday in the Limoilou sector, in Quebec. The fire required a fourth alarm.

Some 65 firefighters took part in this intervention.

It is a witness who gave the alert for a violent fire which broke out around 3:30 am at the back of a building located at 241, 8e Avenue.

“The witness mentioned a fire broke out on a balcony at the back of the building. A column of black smoke was visible from a distance, ”said Bill Noonan, spokesperson for the Quebec Fire Prevention Service.

“Several extinguisher lances were brought out to knock down the flames. Everything has been under control since around 5:30 a.m. this morning [jeudi]Mr. Nunaan added.

No injuries are reported. About ten people were taken in by the Red Cross. In the context of COVID-19, the victims will be temporarily accommodated in a hotel.

“The Fire Marshal is currently on site to determine the cause of the fire. It is still under investigation, ”said the spokesperson.
