“There is no hidden agenda”, assures Doug Ford

Premier Ford has asked Uber and various home food delivery services to temporarily reduce the fees they impose on restaurant owners during a delivery.

During the first wave of the pandemic, the Ontario Liberal Party asked the Ford government to impose a limit of 15% on these fees.

In March, Uber Eats decided to temporarily eliminate its delivery charges to users to encourage them to stay at home.

Small businesses represent 98% of all businesses in the province and employ nearly 2.4 million Ontarians, according to government data.

Ontario recorded 746 new COVID-19 infections on Monday, and 807 the day before. On Sunday and Monday, 12 people lost their lives after contracting the virus, bringing the total since March to 3,017 people, two-thirds in long-term care homes.
