Over $ 8 million awarded to the SAT

The Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) will be able to move forward with its modernization plan thanks to the $ 8.1 million granted to it by the Quebec government.

This sum, announced Tuesday by the Minister of Culture Nathalie Roy, will not only allow the Montreal establishment which is dedicated to digital art to update its specialized equipment, but also to maintain the quality of its various installations.

The work and improvements to be carried out at the SAT are valued at just under $ 13 million. At the same time, they represent the most important project that will be deployed there since 2009.

“It is essential for our government to support Quebec organizations such as the Société des arts technologie, which put immersive technologies and innovation at the service of cultural expression. The SAT allows our creators to shine around the world in an avant-garde artistic field, which helps to make us proud, ”Nathalie Roy said in a press release.

Founded in 1996, the SAT will celebrate its 25th anniversary next year. Under one roof, there is a research laboratory, a creation center, a training center and dissemination spaces, including its dome for immersive projections.
