National League final: Dodgers push series to the limit

With a three-point push in the first inning, the Los Angeles Dodgers edged out to a 3-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Saturday at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas in Game 6 of the National League final. A seventh and final meeting will therefore be necessary to crown a winner.

The Dodgers were quick to show their intentions early in the game as Corey Seager and Justin Turner took turns catapulting the ball out of the field in the first inning against Max Fried (0-1). In the regular season, the Braves pitcher had allowed just two homers in 56 innings.

For Seager, it was a fifth long ball and an 11^e point produced since the beginning of this series. The Dodgers shortstop tied the Major League Baseball record for most home runs (3) as his team faced elimination.

Cody Bellinger added his lead in the first period, pushing Max Muncy home with a single.

Fried recovered afterwards. In addition to those three runs, he also allowed the Dodgers eight hits and four walks in six and two-thirds innings.

Buehler in great shape

Walker Buehler (1-0) was stronger at the mound for the California team, conceding just seven hits in six innings. He also had six strikeouts.

It was reliever Blake Treinen who allowed the Braves the only point in the seventh inning, while Ronald Acuna allowed Nick Markakis to score on a double. For his part, Kenley Jansen ensured the rescue.

The seventh and final game of the final will take place on Sunday in Arlington.

After erasing a 3-1 delay in this series against the Braves, the Dodgers will try to advance to the World Series for the third time in four years. Their last title, however, dates back to 1988.

For their part, the Braves won their last National League title in 1999 and their last major league championship in 1995.
