Stops save the Fire

The Fire took advantage of stoppage time in both halves to draw a 2-2 draw at Sporting Kansas City on Saturday in Chicago.

Delayed by a goal a few seconds before the end of the first 45 minutes of play, Robert Beric brought the two teams back to square one. Following a corner kick from his own, the Slovenian hit a ball that appeared to be stopped at the last second by defender Amadou Dia, but a review by the referee determined that he was ‘was about a goal.

Again back by a net at the 90e minute, the Fire took a point from their opponent with a last successful push from Djordje Mihailovic.

Erik Hurtado and Gadi Kinda were the goal scorers for the visitors at the 35e and 83e minutes.

Fire goaltender Bobby Shuttleworth made three saves, while his opposite, Tim Melia, made two.
