The Habs’ first choice in the 2018 draft, third overall, remains expected for the Montreal club’s training camp for the 2020-2021 season.
The 20-year-old Kotkaniemi had particularly stood out during the recent playoffs with the Canadiens. He then scored four goals in 10 games in the bubble city of Toronto, in addition to leading the team’s forwards with 36 hits.
Kotkaniemi was previously limited to eight points in 36 games in 2019-20, his second season with the Canadiens. He also scored 13 points in 13 games with the Laval Rocket in the American League.
