Devil’s Hole and Red Barrels collaborate on a (dark) beer inspired by Outlast

As Halloween approaches, it’s not just the dead who are waking up, it’s also the horror game developers! This is notably the case of the Montreal studio Red Barrels which unveils this week, in collaboration with Le Trou du diable, a dark beer in the colors of its excellent frightening franchise, Outlast.

Brewed in Shawinigan, Adeptus Tenebris is an imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels, lightly mixed with a season aged in Sauternes barrels. On the nose, we speak of aromas of roasted bread and cocoa, while in the mouth, we will be dealing with “a tartaric and oxidative frame covered with black cherries”.

Adeptus Tenebris

In short, a sweet nectar at 11% alcohol that risks giving a whole new dimension to games and other horror films that it will spray.

The Adeptus Tenebris will also be available for a limited time, starting October 21 “at most specialty retailers across Quebec”.

As for The Outlast Trials, the next title in the Red Barrels series, we should learn more about it very soon, promises the Quebec company. And since the Adeptus Tenebris is as much to celebrate Halloween as the new glimpse ofOutlast Trials, let’s bet that we won’t have to wait very long.

Recall that this time around, the next Outlast will feature a co-operative Cold War-era horror experience, where “human guinea pigs are unwittingly recruited by Murkoff Company employees to test advanced brainwashing methods and of mental manipulation ”.

The Outlast Trials to be released in 2021.
