Alex Pietrangelo in Vegas for seven years

The best defenseman available in the free agent market in 2020, Alex Pietrangelo, has chosen to continue his career with the Vegas Golden Knights.

The Vice City club made the announcement on Monday evening.

The right-throwing full-back has initialed a seven-year contract worth $ 8.8 million annually. The hearing includes a full no-move clause.

To get the defender, the Knights had to make room on their payroll. So they sent full-back Nate Schmidt and his $ 5.95 million annual salary to the Vancouver Canucks for a third-round pick in the 2022 draft.

According to the capfriendly.com website, Vegas currently has spending of $ 82.4 million, while the cap has been set at $ 81.5 million for the 2020-2021 season.

So we can expect more staff movements in the Golden Knights before the start of the next season in the Bettman circuit.

Getting back to Pietrangelo, his new contract officially ends a 12-year association between him and the St. Louis Blue. The 30-year-old athlete was also the captain of this team in recent years. He was therefore the first Blues player to lift the Stanley Cup in 2019.

Last season, Pietrangelo had 16 successes and provided 36 assists for 52 points in 70 games. He also scored one goal and fed his teammates five times for six points in nine playoff games.

The Ontarian was the fourth overall pick in the 2008 Draft. In his career, he had 109 goals and 341 assists for 450 points on 758 points.
