Justin Trudeau increases aid to SMEs

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announces that the second version of his commercial rent assistance program will allow the payment of subsidies directly to contractors without them having to go through the intermediary of building owners.

Ottawa is also announcing an expansion of access to the Emergency Account for Canadian businesses offering loans of $ 40,000 to small businesses.

The new commercial rent assistance program will be available until next June and will be available to businesses that have lost income of less than 70%, unlike the first version, says Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Trudeau announced an additional investment of $ 100 million to help food banks meet the increased demand with the second wave of COVID-19.
