COVID-19: the capacity of hospitals in Greater Montreal would be exceeded within a month

The “rupture” of health services mentioned this week by Prime Minister François Legault could happen quickly. According to projections from Quebec, hospitals in Greater Montreal will hit their ceiling in a month.

According to these figures from the National Institute of Excellence in Health and Social Services, the region would reach its maximum capacity “even more quickly in terms of intensive care beds”.

The data comes as Quebec continues to see a rapid increase in severe cases of COVID-19. On Wednesday, Prime Minister Legault underlined a risk of disruption of services in hospitals.
