It’s not just governments and some automakers who want to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles. Turo, the company that allows owners to rent their cars to other individuals through its online platform, plans to do the same.
Thus, it is announcing a new partnership with the Association of Electric Vehicles of Quebec (AVÉQ) in order to increase the number of battery-sharing models. It means more choice and better availability.
“Availability is a key factor in promoting greater adoption of electric cars in Quebec. At AVÉQ, we believe that the carsharing offered by Turo is an excellent way to make more electric vehicles available to a greater number of drivers, ”explains Simon-Pierre Rioux, president of AVÉQ.

AVÉQ members who register as a host on Turo and add their car to it will be able to receive $ 250 when they earn their first $ 250 through the platform.
Currently, approximately 5% of the vehicles listed on Turo in Quebec are electric models. It may not seem like much, but it is more than the proportion of vehicles on the roads of the province.
The most popular options displayed on the platform are the Tesla Model 3 and Model X as well as the Nissan LEAF. The goal is to add even more long-range models, such as the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Hyundai Kona electric.
What about COVID-19 in all of this? Well, be aware that owners who share their vehicle should follow clear guidelines from Turo on how to clean and disinfect it. Those who rent are entitled to cancel their reservation, free of charge and without providing proof, if they doubt that the vehicle has been cleaned and disinfected.
