The directors of these establishments were forced to correct the situation after receiving numerous calls from parents who were questioning.
“This is a mistake and it will be rectified quickly. None of these establishments has a positive COVID-19 case as of September 8, 2020 ”, can we read in the email that the Jonquière and Lac-Saint-Jean school service centers sent to parents Tuesday morning.
“It was my wife who called me [mardi] morning telling me that there was a case at the school here in Saint-Ambroise, ”said the owner of the Alqui market in St-Ambroise, Raphaël Tremblay.
The latter did not panic, even though his children attend Saint-Ambroise College. Like the vast majority of parents he met on Tuesday near the establishment located on Blackburn Street, he is wary of information that does not come directly from the school administration.
“We go day by day and we hope that this joke will end one day. I’ll stick to what the principal will say. She knows her students, surely better than the health authorities. So, at the regional or national level, we will take it and let it look, ”he explained.
“Me, I will really rely on what the director gives me as information,” said another mother to VAT News.
School service centers remind that if a positive case is reported within the walls of a school, a notice will be sent as soon as possible to all parents and members of the staff of the school concerned.
Their management is not in a position to specify the origin of this confusion. Neither does the regional public health directorate. Rather, it refers to the Ministry of Health, which would be responsible for compiling data for the entire province.
