Vancouver Police are looking for a thug who set fire to the blankets in which a homeless woman slept, nearly burning her victim alive.
Video captured with a surveillance camera and released by police on Tuesday shows the suspect, a man described as being between the ages of 35 and 50, busy setting fire to the blankets the victim was sleeping in on December 13, around 4 a.m.
The flames smoldered for a few minutes, before spreading and turning the blankets into fireballs.
“Fortunately, the victim woke up just in time to be able to put out the fire and avoid serious injury. A few more seconds and it could have been tragic, ”said Vancouver Police Sgt. Steve Addison.
This shocking act has shaken more than one. “This is an outrageous assault targeting a vulnerable member of our community and we hope the public will help us solve this crime,” continued Sgt. Addison.
The victim, described as a woman in her thirties, had not reported the crime to the police and has not yet been located, it was said.
