The Liberal Party of Quebec wants the opposition parties to be able to directly question the national director of public health, Dr. Horacio Arruda.
Through a letter sent to the president of the Parliamentary Committee on Health and Social Services, the Caquist MP Luc Provençal, the Liberal MP Marie Montpetit asked that the members of these be able to hear the scientist.
For the head of the PLQ, Dominique Anglade, Dr. Arruda must explain himself about the recommendations he addressed to the government concerning the “moral contract” of the holiday season.
Last week, Prime Minister François Legault said he had to limit the number of gatherings that will be allowed for each period during the holiday season to two because public health had changed his recommendation.
“François Legault said: these were ill-advised decisions. […] Well, very good, that we can ask our questions directly to Public Health and understand what is the game plan for the holidays, ”said Dominique Anglade, Thursday.
This presents this request as a “test of transparency” for the Legault government.
“If the government is really transparent, if there is nothing to hide, if there is nothing that cannot be made public, why is it that Dr. Arruda does not come to meet the parliamentarians? ” she added.
