The first copies of the ID.4, Volkswagen’s new all-electric crossover, are already arriving in Canada! According to a post seen on the Facebook page Volkswagen ID. firstScott Hollinshead, the manufacturer’s director of electrical products, confirmed that the first ID.4s are already ready to hit our roads.
Two pre-production models will be used by Volkswagen employees to prepare for the vehicle’s marketing, scheduled for summer 2021.
The early arrival of ID.4s will also allow the manufacturer to verify whether the price and the equipment of the vehicle are sufficiently competitive for the Canadian market. This is not specified in the Facebook post, but it is possible that Volkswagen will perform winter driving and charging tests with the first ID.4s to collect data on the vehicle.
Mr. Hollinshead also states that he is the first motorist in the country to have driven and recharged the vehicle. Although he explains that he cannot give driving impressions, he then adds that the handling is excellent, the turning circle very short and that the U-turns are done without any difficulty.
While waiting to be able to drive it and tell you more, know that the first two ID.4s imported to Canada by Volkswagen are blue and gray (see photo gallery). Keep an eye out in the days to come, you might spot it on our roads!
