The all-new Genesis GV70 finally comes out of its hiding place – and camouflage – to show us what it looks like both on the outside and inside. The Korean luxury brand has just published the first official images of its compact SUV.
Quickly, we see that the GV70 shares many design elements with its big brother, the GV80, but also with other recently modernized models from Genesis, namely the G90 and G80 sedans, not to mention the future G70 2022.
The concept of “athletic elegance” is reflected in particular in the imposing diamond grille, positioned lower than the dual headlights to emphasize the sporty side of the SUV. A chrome plate at the bottom of the bumpers adds body to the posture, while a so-called “parabolic” relief line gracefully unites the headlights to the taillights, also in the form of double bars.
Seen from the side, the GV70 features a receding window surround and a rear spoiler that seeks to create a sports coupe look. Continuing the tour of the vehicle, we also notice original rims as well as vertical tailpipes encased in a G-Matrix pattern trim, as well as the color-matched diffuser.
There’s even a GV70 Sport (the red model in the pictures) which stands out with its 21-inch G-Matrix-patterned wheels, its exclusive front bumper, dark chrome accents as well as its larger exhaust. diameter.
Inside, Genesis mentions that the design inspired by the wings of an airplane is thought to maximize comfort and usability for the occupants. The steering wheel and top of the dashboard, including the super-large 14.5-inch multimedia display, are roughly identical to those of the GV80, but the center controls as well as the console layout are quite unique.
It will be possible to obtain a two-tone trim with unusual colors such as purple or red, in the case of the Sport version. The latter also contains carbon fiber trim and a sports steering wheel.
We do not yet know all the technical details or the engines that will be offered with the GV70, but let’s bet on a turbocharged four-cylinder 2.5-liter developing nearly 300 horsepower. One thing is certain, an all-wheel drive will be included as standard.
Starting today and for the next two months, Genesis will test approximately 100 GV70s on the roads of Korea to complete development for the official launch. The vehicle will be marketed in Canada next year as a 2022 model and will compete with the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC and Acura RDX of this world.
