Quebec will finally, in turn, receive 200,000 rapid COVID-19 test kits, one week after Ontario.
Asked by Conservative MP Richard Martel who railed against the “slowness” of the federal government during question period in Ottawa on Wednesday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau indicated that Quebec will finally receive 200,000 rapid tests during the week.
“We know that screening is part of the solution. We owe it to ourselves to continue working at all different levels to fully deliver the equipment needed to fight the second wave of COVID, ”said Mr. Trudeau
Earlier Wednesday, Quebec had yet indicated to expect to receive only 30,000 ID NOW rapid screening tests as of Thursday. The Legault government had argued that it would receive 62,900 rapid tests over the next few days or weeks.
An expert committee will determine how these tests will be deployed, which can detect COVID-19 in less than 15 minutes. “We will have a recommendation shortly,” said the office of the Minister of Health.
Remember that our neighbors in Ontario have already received 100,000 rapid screening tests from the Abbott company last week.
