“Entre 2 notes” on QUB music: Mara Tremblay and Lydia Képinski with an open heart

Very often, music artists only have a handful of seconds to express themselves on a beefy and current subject or explain what makes them tick. The new series of long meetings “Between 2 notes”, designed by the QUB musique team, gives them a great platform to remedy all this.

It was the singer-songwriters Mara Tremblay and Lydia Képinski who were the first to lend themselves to the exercise, that of discussing frankly one in front of the other, without time constraints. Offered in a 20-minute video format and in an audio format of just under an hour, their conversation centered around the woman in the foreground proved to be rich in meaning.

Sitting at the Quai des Brumes bar in Montreal, the two singers approached and plunged without taboos into themes that could have repelled more than one. This great franchise has also surprised Mélissa Pelletier, content producer of the series.

“Like when they started talking about positive sex, when they opened up about difficult moments in their mental health life. We talk a lot that on tour, it can be very difficult to keep a balance, but they talked about it without any taboos. […] We have to talk about these subjects because it is important and they did not hesitate. ”

Without embarrassment, they also added their voices to the discussion surrounding all the denunciations that recently rocked the music world. Their optimistic outlook lightened the weight of this issue.

“I found it interesting that in the wave of denunciations, for example, we could take a more positive approach to recovery and give options other than just slapping people on the head,” says Mélissa Pelletier.

Driven by the desire to get to the bottom of things while creating a bubble of intimacy between two artists separated by several years, this one imposed no barrier in the questions launched to Mara Tremblay and Lydia Képinski.

“The place of women in the music industry is a subject that we have talked about a lot, a lot, but I wanted to hear from these women. In the series, what we will also look for a lot is the veteran-young aspect, two artists at different times in their careers, but who have things in common. “

The “Entre 2 notes” initiative will continue on QUB musique with another meeting between two artists from different generations: Paul Piché and Émile Bilodeau.

Recorded at TOHU, this long discussion expected in November revolves a lot around the Quebec fiber. “It gives rise to a whole different atmosphere [qu’avec Mara et Lydia]. It’s really special as a “vibe”. Paul and Émile are very intense, excited and talkative. ”
