82-year-old pedestrian fatally struck

A driver was arrested after fatally striking an 82-year-old pedestrian who was walking on a sidewalk in the borough of Saint-Léonard.

The drama took place at the end of the day on Wednesday. The octogenarian was hit by a car driving on Boulevard Lavoisier.

For an unknown reason, the car changed course and struck the lady, who was thrown over a great distance, explains Alain Cardinal, head of the neighborhood station. (PDQ) 42.

The incident took place near Station 21 of the Montreal Fire Department. Firefighters attempted to resuscitate the victim, but was later pronounced dead in hospital.

The driver, a 38-year-old man, was arrested at the scene. He could face charges.

“The vehicle also hit a tree. To be so rough, it probably had to be speeding. The investigative work should be able to support our claims, ”adds Mr. Cardinal.
