The Aquarium de Quebec is part of the long list of establishments that will be closed during the 28 days of confinement announced by the Quebec government.
A particularly difficult closure, when the site had just inaugurated, Tuesday, the new enclosure of Eddy, the polar bear of the Aquarium, after work of more than 20 months.
According to Simon Boivin, spokesperson for the Société des establishments de plein air du Québec (SÉPAQ), the configuration of several pavilions made it difficult to comply with the required sanitary measures.
“In light of the instructions, we found that it would not be possible to keep the Aquarium open so, from Thursday, at midnight, it will be closed,” said the spokesperson.
The closure will be in effect until October 28.
The other SÉPAQ sites remain open, but those located in areas designated as red are subject to several additional health rules.
