After Quebec Premier François Legault and Health Minister Christian Dubé hammered day after day to be ready to face a second wave of COVID-19, Liberal MP Marie Montpetit is not convinced that the government was telling the truth.

“I would like to answer yes … We have a Prime Minister and a Minister of Health who told us that they had learned from the first wave, that during the first wave they were building the plane in midair. But it is clear that they have not learned all the lessons we would have liked, ”slices the opposition spokesperson for health.
According to her, MM. Legault and Dubé are slow to implement measures that should have been put forward a long time ago. She cites as an example the transfer of personnel from one CHSLD to another.
“British Columbia banned it in March, it is still not banned here in Quebec. We saw the consequences that this had in the spring during the first wave, ”says Mr.me Montpetit.
While the second wave has barely started, cases are already starting to increase in residences for the elderly. Remember that more than 3,000 seniors died from the coronavirus during the first wave.
“Very concerned” by the marked increase in recent days and the number of outbreaks in residences for the elderly, Marie Montpetit affirms to have questioned the Minister of Health on numerous occasions, in particular about the transfer of personnel.
“We have the worst death toll in Canada [et] one of the worst in the world. It is unacceptable and extremely deplorable that the government is not taking action. We know the solutions, we know the issues. These issues should not be repeated at this time, ”laments Mr.me Montpetit.
