French accents finally on the driving license

Franco-Ontarians have been claiming for a few decades “this sign of the government’s respect for their language and culture,” confirms AFO president Carol Jolin.

“I am very happy with this action. I am optimistic that this initiative will be extended to other government documents, ”he added.

A coincidence that is perhaps not unrelated to this historic breakthrough: the Minister of Transport and the Minister of Francophone Affairs are currently one and the same person, Caroline Mulroney.

We hardly dare imagine the other progress that awaits us over the next 500 years: French accents on health insurance cards, or even on car plates?
