Sunday, Quebec announced the maintenance of extracurricular activities and sports-study programs outside the class bubble, even in regions that have gone to the orange alert level, contrary to what had been announced one week earlier.

However, on Monday, school principals contacted parents to inform them that extracurricular activities could not be held as planned, considering the passage of their region in the orange zone.

“Extracurricular activities can begin as soon as the alert level changes to yellow or green,” said Annie Gosselin, principal of Les Sommets high school in Quebec City, referring to a document from the Ministry of Education transmitted before Sunday’s announcement.

The Association québécoise du personnel de direction des écoles has confirmed that there is “confusion” in the school network in this regard.

A letter formalizing this change of course was sent by the Ministry of Education to the school network on Monday, but school principals have not received the information, it is indicated.

“Pupils from schools located in regions on alert (orange level) will be able, until further notice, to continue to evolve within two additional stable groups within the framework of extracurricular activities and their particular educational projects, as in yellow bearing ”, we can read in this letter.
