On Twitter, the minister announced that 25 cases have been identified in the establishment after massive screening carried out by the Public Health of the Capitale-Nationale.
No less than 20 students and 5 staff members have contracted the coronavirus, said Jean-François Roberge.
“In accordance with the emergency protocol, the establishment will switch, as soon as possible, to distance education during this period,” said the minister.
Mr. Roberge says he is “in connection with [Commission scolaire] de la Capitale to ensure that learning can continue quickly ”.
The minister also wants to know the factors that led to the outbreak, in addition to wanting to take measures to prevent a similar situation from happening again.
Calling people to be vigilant, Jean-François Roberge was keen to be reassuring.
“Despite this worrying situation that we are monitoring closely, I want to reassure the students, their parents and the staff: our schools remain safe places,” he wrote.
