The discharge of wastewater into the Saint-Maurice River will have to continue for at least another week following a second failure of the discharge pipe.
This is what the City of Trois-Rivières said Thursday, speaking of an “incomparable situation, which is constantly evolving”.
“When is the spill over? As of today, we can expect the spill to continue for at least a week, ”the statement said.
According to the City, the repair work is “much more complex than those carried out last week, in particular because of the nature of the soil, the proximity of the water table and the electricity transmission line, breakage on the pipe as well as the manufacturing time of replacement parts ”.
