Volkswagen Tiguan’s little brother to be unveiled on October 13

The American division of Volkswagen has just released a mysterious image to announce the unveiling of a new subcompact SUV on October 13.

This is the little brother of the Tiguan whose coming to us had been the subject of intense rumors for several months.

“Good things come in small format, as Volkswagen has demonstrated over the years with its iconic Beetle, Golf and Jetta. This new model will be no exception, ”said the President and CEO of the Volkswagen Group in the United States.

The image in question shows us only the silhouette of the vehicle seen from the front, including its roof rails, its raised lines on the hood and its headlights which join the logo on the grille by a thin strip of LED light.

Everything suggests that Volkswagen will offer us a slightly modified version of its subcompact SUV called Tarek in South America and Tharu in China.

Based on the German manufacturer’s MQB platform, the latter measures 4,452 millimeters, or 250 millimeters less than the current Tiguan. It’s possible that the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine found elsewhere at Volkswagen might be offered under the hood, but let’s not rule out a smaller displacement engine either.

Presumably, this small SUV will come standard with front-wheel drive and optional 4Motion all-wheel drive when it hits the North American market next year as a 2022 model.
