Thursday September 3rd will be a big day for Jeep. The Italian-American manufacturer will unveil two particularly anticipated SUVs!
The first is the Wrangler 4xe, a plug-in hybrid version of the Wrangler. We don’t know what the 100% electric range of this Wrangler will be, but we do know that it should preserve its off-road capabilities, making the 4xe the most capable PHEV SUV off-road, without a doubt!
The other vehicle that will be unveiled is actually a concept, and not just any! This is the Jeep Grand Wagoneer, which will mark the return of this legendary name to Jeep! However, in its contemporary version, we will be entitled to a large 7-passenger SUV, possibly in order to compete with the Cadillac Escalade, among others, but with a particular emphasis on off-road performance.
In both cases, we’re talking about major changes for Jeep. Indeed, the Wrangler 4xe will be Jeep’s first real attempt to offer an ecological alternative since… Methuselah. Some people consider the EcoDiesel engine to be an ecological option, but let’s say that we stay far from a hybrid mechanism.
In the case of the Grand Wagoneer, we are consolidating Jeep as a luxury brand! When you buy a Jeep, whatever the model, you always pay a luxury. Take the Grand Cherokee, a lesser-equipped base version of which is priced around $ 55,000. But there, by releasing a vehicle coming directly to compete with the Cadillac Escalade, if rumors are to be believed, Jeep will position itself even more as a luxury brand, or, at least, as a nested brand, intended for a specific clientele.
No doubt, it’s a big week for Jeep! Come back to us on Thursday on the Auto Guide website for all the details on these two new models.
