The Brooklyn Nets have formalized the arrival of star player James Harden on Thursday morning.
As reported by several media, including The Athletic site, Harden was traded by the Houston Rockets in a transaction also involving the Cleveland Cavaliers. These received young Jarrett Allen and Taurean Prince from the Nets. For their part, the Texas club got Caris LeVert, Rodions Kurucs as well as three first-round picks. Additionally, Brooklyn and Houston reversed their selection order in the initial round for four drafts, including the next.
Also, the Rockets got their hands on Dante Exum and a first-round pick from the Cavaliers. Brooklyn will finally be entitled to a second-round selection from Cleveland in 2024. Contrary to what some have mentioned, the Indiana Pacers are not involved in this pact.
Despite the controversy surrounding Harden’s move to Houston, his hiring was worth the cost, in the eyes of his new organization.
“Adding an NBA all-star like James to our roster makes it a lot better suited to compete against the top clubs,” general manager Sean Marks said in a statement. James is one of the most prolific shooters and game makers in our sport and we are happy that he can showcase his special talent in Brooklyn. ”
Harden has been on the All-Star Silver Tour for the past eight seasons. However, he’s been gaining more traction for his comments about the Rockets recently. On Tuesday, he displayed his moods publicly after a setback at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers.
“We’re just not good enough. We don’t have chemistry and we lack talent. It’s obvious, ”said the 31-year-old athlete. I love this city. I literally did everything I could. This situation is crazy. This is something that I believe cannot be fixed. ”
Even before the start of this season, Harden had signaled his desire to join a title contender in the Eastern Conference after Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni resigned. The Houston formation had also traded his friend Russell Westbrook to the Washington Wizards.
