Blackhawks | Jonathan Toews on long-term injured list

(Chicago) Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews will miss at least 10 games and 24 days as his name was transferred to the long-term injured list on Thursday due to a mysterious illness.

The 32-year-old hockey player announced before training camp started last month that he had experienced symptoms that left him “exhausted and lethargic.”

Toews and the team have yet to clarify the nature of the problem, and the timelines for his return to play are unknown. The veteran center has asked for his privacy to be respected as he attempts to regain his health .

Toews was instrumental in winning three Stanley Cups for the Blackhawks between 2010 and 2015. He scored 18 goals and amassed 42 assists in 70 games last season, and was one of the best defensive forwards and one of the more effective in the face-off circle.

On the other hand, the Hawks announced Thursday that defenseman Brent Seabrook is suffering from a lower back injury and that forward Kirby Dach’s name has been moved to the long-term injured list because of a injury to a wrist.
