NBA | James Harden traded to Nets in monster deal

The Brooklyn Nets have reportedly agreed to acquire all-star James Harden from the Houston Rockets, the Associated Press has learned from a source familiar with the situation.

Harden would find Kevin Durant in a deal that also involves the Indiana Pacers and the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to the AP source.

This person spoke on condition of anonymity because the phone call with the NBA – which approves all transactions – had not been completed.

At least four draft picks would also be part of that trade, the AP source added.

As part of this transaction, Victor Oladipo would move from Indiana to Houston and Caris LeVert would leave Brooklyn to join Indiana, according to the Associated Press source.

The exchange would come less than 24 hours after Harden delivered what sounded like a farewell message following the Rockets’ loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night.

“We’re just not good enough. […] I love this city. I literally did everything I can do, ”Harden said Tuesday night.

“This situation is crazy. This is something, I think, that cannot be fixed. ”

It was clear the end was nearing Wednesday, when the Rockets let him know he was not welcome in practice.

“We thought it was better for him and for the squad that he didn’t come to training,” said coach Stephen Silas, who is in his first year at the helm of a club in the NBA.

About two hours later, ESPN and The Athletic were the first to report that Harden was changing teams.

The star player has been silent for months about the rift between himself and the Rockets.

“A general mess,” Silas summed up of the situation.

“It’s hard to hear that (his opinion of the Rockets), especially when you know it’s not true,” said Silas, who said he hadn’t slept at all from Tuesday to Wednesday.

The Rockets go to play in San Antonio Thursday and Saturday.

On Wednesday, the Nets face the Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

Houston is 3-6, edging only Minnesota (3-7 before hosting Memphis on Wednesday) in the West.

“It has to be sorted out somehow,” Silas said. It is very far from easy. For the sake of the team, we all need to move in the same direction. ”

Earlier this season, Harden was fined $ 50,000 for failing to follow NBA protocols related to the pandemic.

Scoring champion in the last three seasons, he is currently 14e of the league with 24.8 points per game, ahead of Wednesday.

After a debut with Oklahoma City, Harden was traded to Houston in October 2012.

Ahead of the current season, the Rockets sent Russell Westbrook to Washington, in return for John Wall and a future first-round pick.
