Joel Embiid had his best game of the season scoring 45 points in his 76ers 137-134 overtime win over the Miami Heat on Tuesday in Philadelphia.
The star player notably scored the point of victory by making a free throw in overtime. He scored 11 of his own 17 points in overtime. He previously tied with a two-point shot with less than five seconds left in regulation time to force an extra engagement.
This is his third-best career performance after picking up 49 points against the Atlanta Hawks in February 2020 and 46 points against the Los Angeles Lakers in November 2017.
The center also recovered 16 rebounds under the baskets. Danny Green, with 29 points, and Ben Simmons, with 12 rebounds, also contributed to the victory.
Veteran Kevin Durant continued his momentum with 34 points in the Nets’ 122-116 win over the Denver Nuggets in Brooklyn.
Durant finished off a rebound from the triple double as he also collected 13 assists. As a result, the New York-area team managed to return to a .500 record after suffering two losses.
The former Golden State Warriors was backed by Caris LeVert, who posted a 20-point performance on Tuesday.
In the loss, three players got at least 20 points, namely Nikola Jokic (2 points), Will Barton (22 points) and Jamal Murray (20 points).
Another Lakers victory
The Los Angeles Lakers have registered their ninth victory in 12 games this season, defeating the Rockets 117-100 in Houston.
The California club quickly established their dominance with 71 points in the first half. They were therefore able to manage the playing time of LeBron James, who had 26 points, eight rebounds and five assists in just 29 minutes of play.
The Rockets have only won three games so far this season. Against the Lakers, no player was able to total 20 points.
