One month before Christmas, the Grand Théâtre de Québec receives as a real gift the agreement signed with the company TELUS which will allow it, with funding of more than 5 million spread over the next decade, to carry out several projects. , including more outdoor shows, near the establishment.
In interview at Sun Monday, Chairman and CEO Gaétan Morency did not hide his desire to offer the public “more and more” outdoor events, as was the case last summer, in the courtyard of the Music Conservatory. “There are sites around that are underused,” he said. Mr. Morency imagines shows presented during the summer, on a stage set up in the Parc de d’Amérique française, just next to the Grand Théâtre. The Commission de la Capitale-Nationale, owner of the premises, seems “very open” to the idea. Part of rue Claire-Fontaine would then be closed to automobile traffic. An outdoor bistro project is also in the works.
