Today, the City of Montreal is losing its public security manager on the executive committee, even as the funding of the police arouses passions.
The municipal councilor in Villeray, Rosannie Filato, made the announcement on Tuesday on his Facebook page, thus confirming the information reported this morning in Press. She will thus leave the position of public security manager on the executive committee, which has led her to work with the Montreal Police Department and the Fire Department since March 2019.
The elected from Projet Montréal justifies this decision by stressing that she prefers to dedicate herself solely to serving the residents of her neighborhood until the end of her mandate, in November 2021. The labor lawyer, aged 33 years, also confirms that she will not stand for re-election. Rather, she intends to get involved again in “the representation of workers in the food and retail sector”, as are other members of her family.
“The public safety issue is one of the utmost importance and that is why I look forward to Valérie Plante announcing to you tomorrow the colleague, a woman in whom I have complete confidence, in whom I will have the honor of passing the torch, ”adds Ms. Filato.
More details to come.
