The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) recommends that the public not consume Fresh Attitude brand baby spinach which may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria.
Vegpro International is voluntarily recalling these products distributed in Quebec and Ontario.
Packaged in 142g and 312g formats, the products affected by this recall “should be thrown away or returned to the store where they were purchased,” the federal agency said in a statement Thursday evening.
“Food contaminated with Salmonella bacteria does not necessarily show any visible spoilage or a suspicious odor, but can still make you sick,” the CFIA warned.
No illnesses associated with the consumption of these products have been reported to the federal agency.
