The Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Quebec is the scene of a major outbreak of COVID-19, when nearly half of the employees have been confirmed positive for the virus, in addition to 39 sisters out of the 300 who live there.
The outbreak began on November 18, says Annie Ouellet, spokesperson for the CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale.
There are 43 workers and 39 sisters who have so far tested positive for the virus.
“From the start of the outbreak, we provided our support with a“ mission ”team deployed on site,” says the spokesperson.
This team is made up of attendants, nurses, nursing assistants and pharmaceutical and medical support.
The general director of the congregation, Jean Gagné, declined to comment on the situation and indicated that health measures were in place. The organization must react by way of press release shortly.
No deaths have been reported.
