The two US digital media giants, BuzzFeed and Verizon Media are joining forces to better tackle growth challenges, revealed the Wall Street Journal.
Investors coldly welcomed the news on the New York Stock Exchange, the title of Verizon Communications (VZ), of which Verizon Media is a branch, sagged 0.45%.
BuzzFeed is therefore getting its hands on HuffPost, which will allow the two platforms to exchange content and find new sources of income. In a press release the two companies hinted that their respective audiences were complementary, and that this exchange will give them a better profile.
Verizon Media will get a minority stake in the company founded by Jonah Peretti. In addition to letting go of stocks, she made an investment in BuzzFeed whose value was not disclosed.
