Axart organizes a Christmas market in a hybrid format – L’Express

ARTS. From December 3 to January 3, Axart will hold the fifth edition of its Christmas Market, a market of works and artisanal products that will be sold in kiosks and on the web.

In order to adapt to the health crisis, the Christmas Market will be both face-to-face and virtual, says Axart coordinator Mélina Verrier. “People can come and visit the market respecting the hygiene and public health recommendations. There will be a total of seven kiosks. ”

“On our website and on our social networks, we will have photo albums of each artist. If anyone is interested in buying, they can call or email, ”she adds.

This year, eight artists will participate in the event, namely Gail (Geneviève Allaire), Lise B. Tétreault, Pauline Campagna, Hélène Courchesne, Sylvain Croteau, Louise Jacques, André Lapointe and Evelyn Losier.

“We really have a great selection of artists who are diverse. There is an artist who makes a lot of Christmas wreaths and centerpieces. I have another artist who has a reminder concept. She makes small paintings which are made according to her usual technique and she adds small notepads. Otherwise I also have an artist who makes stained glass and jewelry, ”explains Mélina Verrier. Traditional greeting cards and pictorial works will also be available on site.

In a context where several markets are canceled, Mélina Verrier wanted to maintain the event. “We are going through a difficult period for the cultural community and especially for our artists. We are an artists’ cooperative and our artists wanted to present their work anyway. During the last months, the visits [à la galerie d’art] were done in a safe manner. We decided to hold the event anyway. ”

Because of the sanitary measures imposed, the end-of-year celebration “Drummondville sur son 31” was canceled. “In past years, we always opened on December 31 to celebrate with the artists and the public. We offered hot drinks. We could accommodate a good hundred people on that day. This year, we decided to drop this component for obvious reasons, ”says Mélina Verrier.

For those interested, Christmas Market gift vouchers will be available on Axart’s online store. “We are throwing this pole at companies and businesses that are always wondering what to offer their employees. It could be gift certificates for people to come and visit our market. They will have the opportunity to choose, ”she concludes.

Exceptionally, Axart is improving its opening hours for the event. Visitors will be able to visit the site on Tuesday and Wednesday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
