This was indicated by the Council of the Federation on Friday in a press release.
“The Prime Minister of Canada has assured us that the federal government will support the provinces and territories. The most effective way to achieve this is to increase the federal share of health care funding through the Canada Health Transfer, ”said Quebec Premier François Legault, who chairs the Council.
Shortly before the presentation of the Speech from the Throne at the end of September, Mr. Legault and his counterparts united to demand an increase in the federal contribution from 22% to 35%.
They also called for an increase in the federal envelope of $ 28 billion as of next year.
Mr. Trudeau had already committed for several weeks to meet with his counterparts on health transfers during the fall. The exact moment, however, was not known until now.
