The 2020 edition of the Montreal Book Fair will be virtual

It is during the weekend from Friday November 13 to Sunday November 15, 2020 that the brand new version of the Montreal Book Fair will be held. This year, pandemic obliges, it will be virtual, but not boring so far!

Each year, tens of thousands of people come to the Palais des congrès to buy books, meet their favorite authors and attend conferences, round tables or public readings.

Obviously, one does not replace the other, but the Salon du livre team has managed to offer an interesting program that deserves our attention.

5 major themes of 100% free virtual conferences

Good news since the Montreal Book Fair is being held remotely this year, there is no admission fee. All lectures are also completely free. They are separated into five main themes:

  • Family and childhood
  • Feminism
  • Story and inspiration
  • Plurality of voices
  • 2020… and after?

To register, we simply go on the ticket office, you select the number of tickets you want per event, you fill in your contact details to reserve and you’re done!

When the day comes, we receive a reminder email which contains the link to click to connect to said event.

There are even prizes to be won among all registrants: a $ 500 gift certificate as well as 5 gift certificates of $ 100 each from the Association des libraires du Québec, redeemable in independent Quebec bookstores.

Other activities for young people and families

Among all the conferences, those for the youth audience and the young adult audience are well identified in case you want to attend a family conference.

Speaking of youth, the publishing house Les stories des 400 coups created a Facebook page which targets children, parents, teachers and librarians.

Several themes will be addressed via Zoom, such as:

  • To be told a story.
  • Find out how books are created.
  • Learn tips to draw better.

The page is private, and you have to apply for membership to be a member, but everyone is accepted. All the details about the various themes are published on this page.
