“Our plan is not perfect, it will not solve all the problems, but it will make it possible to rapidly improve, over the next few weeks, the air quality in Quebec schools. What is the goal? The objective is to make our schools safer during the winter for our children, ”insisted the co-spokesperson for the political party, Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois, on Wednesday.
The number of COVID-19 cases in schools has risen dramatically in recent weeks, despite health measures imposed in red zones, and no easing is being considered by the government.
Contamination by the air, also called “contagion by aerosols”, has been recognized since last summer, indicated the spokesperson for Quebec solidaire in education, Christine Labrie, which would have left the time for the government to prepare for the new school year.
“But he didn’t, and here we are in November, and, to this day, his plan is still to open the windows, while there are a multitude of classes in our schools, in which, first of all, there is not even a window or in which the windows do not open, ”lamented Christine Labrie.
The Parti Québécois also considers that the Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, became aware of the problem of ventilation too late. The latter said at the Salon Bleu on Tuesday only that he was to set up a committee to make recommendations on the matter, sighed the PQ spokesperson for education, Véronique Hivon.
“As if we hadn’t known for months that this was a problem in Quebec, as if we hadn’t known for months that winter was coming in Quebec and that the solution to open the windows was not going to hold up. the road ”, she denounced.
