It’s mid-season in the NFL and, in the most recent episode of The paying zone, our analysts separate men from children. Which teams seem to be making their way to the top of the mountain, while others are just starting to tumble down? Midway through the course, the time has come to take a stand on the most serious Super Bowl contenders.

Even if a few Powers seem to be heading straight for the ultimate goal, other underrated contenders might take a more twisty detour in order to pull the rug out from under them. In The paying zone, one wonders, three months before the big day, who are the most suitable candidates to go all the way, but also who are at risk of muddying the waters.

Mid-season is also an opportunity for many to award individual honors. In The paying zone, we do things differently by saluting some of the heroes in the shadows, who don’t get the attention they deserve.

Great existential questions also drive our team. Can the Patriots still hang on to the hope of carving out a playoff spot? Are the Chargers doomed to failure forever? How should we see the future in the short and long term for Alex Smith?

And since we must not be satisfied with projecting too far into the future, let’s not forget the predictions for week 10!
