A brand new Rolls-Royce Ghost is coming to light for 2021, just over 10 years after the launch of the first generation. As expected, it takes luxury and driving experience to a remarkable level.
All of this is part of a reinvention of the brand’s image which notably involves new colors and a stronger identity both in the digital and physical sphere in order to attract a younger clientele. More than ever, the one who manufactures “the best automobile in the world” wants to be considered the “House of luxury”.
Obviously, the design of the Rolls-Royce Ghost 2021 does not change drastically. Again, it’s the details that matter. Up front the Pantheon grille is a bit wider and taller (with 20 LEDs at the top that illuminate the vertical slats), the headlights are slightly redesigned (with optional laser technology) for a more modern look and low bumper has been redesigned to appear more aggressive. The sides and the rear are subtly evolving, among others the rims, the trunk lid and the taillights, enough to make the car more sporty.
On a technical level, know that the Ghost 2021 – like the most recent Phantom and the new Cullinan SUV – is based on a new architecture exclusive to Rolls-Royce and no longer on that of the old BMW 7 Series. nine centimeters long and three centimeters wider, it uses an air suspension whose new front shocks help improve ride comfort, according to the company.
This suspension and the eight-speed automatic gearbox are linked to the navigation system to anticipate the road and smooth the ride. The 6.75-liter twin-turbo V12 still puts out 563 horsepower, but torque increases to 627 pound-feet. Two important new features are all-wheel drive and active four-wheel steering.
And then there is the interior. Inspired by the Phantom, the dashboard all in width beautifully integrates the digital dials, the large central screen, the analog clock and a new black panel on which appears the name Ghost and a constellation of more than 850 stars at start-up (stars which are reproduced in the optional ceiling). Below is an elegant paneling punctuated by a few air vents and buttons. By the way, the doors now have an assisted opening and closing function; the force of their motor is adjusted according to the inclination of the car.
Rolls-Royce engineers also paid special attention to noise. Two hundred pounds of sound-deadening material envelops the cabin, but efforts to make the cabin quieter than ever extend to the ventilation ducts and driveshaft, through the seats are the resonant frequency. is controlled. On the other hand, if you like music, an 18-speaker, 1300-watt sound system is included.
The launch date of the Rolls-Royce Ghost 2021 has not yet been announced, nor its price. As usual, a myriad of customization options will be available.
