I would like to purchase a vehicle for my daily trips. I don’t do a lot of driving, but living in the countryside, I would like to have a small SUV so as not to be bothered by the snow in winter. What’s more, I would like more comfort than what my little Kia Rio gives me right now.
I started looking for a Buick Encore a few years ago. Is this a good choice?
You’re not the only one interested in the Buick Encore. In fact, the vehicle is so popular that it has become somewhat of a sub-brand for Buick since the release of the Encore GX.
Regarding the Encore, there are a few things you should know. First, what made it successful is its build quality, and its quality of finish, for a relatively affordable price. But underneath its Buick dress, we find neither more nor less than the Chevrolet Trax, a small SUV that is more affordable and whose mechanical components are exactly the same.
Indeed, the Encore has the same engine as the Chevrolet Trax, a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder, developing 138 horsepower. Appropriate in the front-wheel drive version, this power seems to evaporate on the Encore four-wheel drive, to the point where highway performance is unacceptable as the acceleration is slow.
That said, the Encore remains a comfortable and relatively luxurious little SUV. Please, this is not a bad vehicle, and its history of reliability is nothing to be alarmed about. For used Buick Encore, it’s here!
Otherwise, other interesting small SUVs are available, such as the Honda HR-V, the Nissan Qashqai, and the Hyundai Kona. In this category of vehicles, there are many choices!
